This summer, the Farm Business Survey invited participants to share their views on their experience with FBS and the support they receive from Promar. More than 80 farmers took part, providing valuable insight into what’s working well, and where we can do even better.
Overall feedback was positive, with an average satisfaction score of 7.9 out of 10. Farmers particularly praised their Research Officers, describing them as “professional”, “understanding”, and “easy to talk to”. Consistent contact and genuine empathy were identified as key strengths, highlighting the importance of Promar’s people in delivering trusted, personal support.
When it comes to the reports and benchmarking data, farmers valued the insights provided but suggested improvements such as clearer explanations, more tailored benchmarking for niche farm types, and greater emphasis on actionable outcomes.
Feedback also showed growing interest in how the survey contributes to policy influence and farmer wellbeing. Many respondents said they would like more communication about how FBS data is used nationally, as well as reassurance that their participation helps shape future farming support schemes. You can see examples of how FBS data is used to inform agricultural policy and decision-making on our Why Take Part page.
These insights will directly inform ongoing improvements to the FBS, from simplifying data collection and improving communications to enhancing the quality and relevance of reports.
We’d like to thank every farmer who took the time to complete the survey. Your feedback helps us build a stronger, more supportive experience for everyone involved in the Farm Business Survey.
